A Russian military court has today sentenced a woman over 60 years old to 10 years imprisonment in prison colony as he found her guilty of setting fire to a recruiting office.
The investigators found that the Zumagul Kurbanova used gasoline and engine oil to put fire at the entrance to the recruiting office in St. Petersburg in August 2023.
The court stated that the retired she was instructed to commit the crime by unknown perpetrators via the WhatsApp app, who offered her 50,000 rubles (about $550) in exchange.
Kurbanova fled the scene and was later arrested. Damage to the building was estimated at 92,000 rubles ($1,000).
Prosecutors indicted Kurbanova, whose age various media have put at around 66 or 67, on charges of committing terrorist offence.
According to information, the woman admitted her guilt and he repented inside the courtroom.
Russia has recorded 220 attacks on conscription offices and other government facilities, as well as 184 cases of sabotage on railways, in the two years since the start of the “special military operation”, state news agency TASS reported last month.
