Milan is the third city in the world with the highest air pollution index, according to the Swiss website IQAir, which specializes in recording air quality.

Figures are for yesterday and based on the United States air quality index, Us Aqi.

According to these measurements, greater environmental problems than Milan are faced by Dhaka in Bangladesh and Lahore in Pakistan. Every day the measurements are updated with a new assessment.

The Italian press underlines that, based on these measurements, the air quality in Milan is considered unhealthy and that part of the problems are due to the high temperatures of the last few days, the scant rainfall, but also the heating of the homes.

According to the Swiss website, residents of the Italian co-capital on these days should avoid physical exercise in open spaces and keep the windows of their homes and offices closed.

The mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, commented on the news, stressing that these figures were “published by a private body, which does not have an official character” and “refused to comment on news that he considers to be non-existent”.
