Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the northeastern sector of the front line where he met with troops fighting Russian invasion forces, his office said today.

His office said he visited the brigade’s command center defending Kupyansk, a target where Russian attacks have intensified since mid-August.

The city was liberated by Ukrainian forces in 2022 after its initial capture by Russian troops following the full-scale Russian invasion of February 24.

Kiev says Moscow has not given up on the idea of regaining control of the city of Kupyansk, which is very close to Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv.

During his visit, Zelensky discussed with the brigade commander of the sector in question the issue of the supply of armaments and munitions.

After the unsuccessful Ukrainian counteroffensive in 2023, Russian troops have intensified their attacks along the eastern front line.

Ukraine announced over the weekend that it had withdrawn its troops from the devastated city of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine to avoid being encircled by Moscow’s forces. The capture of Avdiivka was Russia’s biggest battlefield victory since May 2023 when it captured Bakhmut.
