Russian forces have been pushed further west after the capture of the Ukrainian city of Avdiivka, the Ministry of Defense said today.
According to the same source, Russian forces also destroyed a number of weapons Ukraine received from the West last week, including seven Storm Shadow cruise missiles received from Britain, a US Patriot guided missile and launch vehicle, and 42 missiles HIMARS launched from multiple launch systems.

The front lines of the war, which began two years ago on Saturday, have not moved since late 2022 before the capture of Avdiivka, and Russia still controls just under a fifth of Ukrainian territory.
The capture of Abdiivka, after months of fighting with heavy losses on both sides, was the first major gain for Russia since the capture of the city of Bakhmut last May.
After capturing Avdiivka, units of the “Center” group of Russian forces “continued to advance in a western direction,” the Defense Ministry statement said.
“In cooperation with air force and artillery, they defeated accumulations of Ukrainian Armed Forces manpower and equipment” in six settlements in the surrounding area, it said.
