One man died and two were injured this morning in an attack by a man with a knife grocery in the Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido at northern Japanthe network reported NHK.

An employee at a Seicomart store in Hokkaido’s capital Sapporo told local police that a man displayed aggressive behavior while holding what appeared to be a kitchen knife just before 07:00 local time (24:00 Greek time), according to NHK.

Three employees aged between 40 and 60 were stabbed and injured in the attack. One of them, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The other two, a man and a woman, are still conscious, NHK added, citing police.

A 43-year-old local man, who is unemployed, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, NHK said.

In January, three men were injured in a stabbing incident in Akihabara, a popular tourist area in Tokyo. However, incidents of violence in public places remain low in Japan.
