First responders rushed to the scene shortly before 13:00 (local time; 20:00 Greek time) following a call about “a person engulfed in flames in front of the Israeli embassy,” explained via X (the formerly Twitter) the fire department of the federal capital of the USA.
When they arrived, they found that members of the Secret Service—the agency that guards dignitaries and foreign diplomatic missions—had extinguished the fire. The man was rushed to a hospital with “serious life-threatening injuries”, according to the same source.
