Israel’s foreign minister announced today the recall of Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, for consultations, accusing the UN of trying to suppress the report on rapes committed by Hamas militants during the October 7 attack on Israeli soil.

“I have instructed our ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, to return to Israel for urgent consultations regarding the attempt to suppress the serious UN report on the mass rapes committed by Hamas and its accomplices on October 7,” the Israeli foreign minister said. Israel Katz in his post on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

Israel’s foreign minister criticized UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for not convening the Security Council to consider the report’s findings and designating Hamas a “terrorist organization”.

The United Nations “took five months to finally acknowledge the heinous sexual crimes committed during the October 7 attack by Hamas,” Israel Katz also said, denouncing the “shameful silence” on the report’s findings.
