You would be tempted to work in a beautiful but isolated rural area (of the UK in this case) if you were a doctor or a teacher?

And if the idea was not particularly… attractive, you would be “roasted” with a salary package of £150,000 (over €175,000)?

One of the UK’s most remote general practices, serving the wildly beautiful Hebrides, is offering the salary to attract young doctors to live and work there.

Meanwhile, on the nearby Isle of Rum, parents are looking for a new teacher for their five primary school pupils and two kindergartens – with a remuneration package worth £68,000.

For residents, these are not just jobs, but for an effort to attract young people to live and work in the heart of Scotland’s island communities.

The NHS GP package is aimed at people with a “sense of adventure and a passion for rural medicine”.

They will serve the group of six islands in the Outer Hebrides, with a total population of approximately 4,700 people.

The health board said a big incentive is the chance to work in one of the UK’s “most beautiful and idyllic locations”.

But successful applicants will also receive relocation expenses for the islands, as well as an advance payment of £10,000.

It is noted that the Isle of Rum in the Inner Hebrides has a population of only 40 people.

The Primary School includes only five pupils, aged five to 11, and two Kindergartens aged three and four.

The competent Council offers an annual salary of £62,000 for his new manager, with additional remote working allowances of over £5,500.

The pay package is likely not for European nationals, but the local council has announced that it has already received “some interest” in the teaching position, with the recruitment process still ongoing.
