As for sending troops, most Western countries have already made it clear that they are not considering such a scenario.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky “he never asked for foreign troops to fight for his country” commented today a representative of the White House, when asked about the recent statements of French President Emmanuel Macron.
“There will be no American soldiers on Ukrainian soil. Do you know why; This is not what President Zelensky is asking for. It asks for tools and features. He never asked for foreign soldiers to fight for his countrysaid John Kirby, the spokesman for the National Security Council.
Earlier today, Macron, from Prague where he met Czech President Petr Pavel, said he felt it was “necessary” to give a boost to Ukraine’s allies, who he called on “not to be cowed” in the face of an “unstoppable” Russia. He also said he “takes responsibility” for his recent controversial statements about sending Western troops to war-torn Ukraine.
Macron’s statements did not go down well in Germany, after the recent tensions between Berlin and Paris over the issue of Ukraine. “We don’t need (…) debates about whether we have more or less courage. This doesn’t really help solve the problems” of Ukraine, responded Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
