The Russian Academy of Sciences removed from its corresponding member, the philosopher Yulia Sineokaya, a commemorative medal that had been awarded to her. His removal was made at the request of State Duma deputy Roman Teryuskov. The president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Gennady Krasnikov, responding to his request, said in a letter, Shineokaya was removed from the list of laureates.

He also explains that his decision is based on the fact that the scientist has been labeled a “foreign agent”.

The Russian parliamentarian, on his Telegram page, states that he will seek to stop the fees to which Sineokaya is entitled as a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences, as well as the deletion from the Academy of all scientists who have been characterized as “foreign agents”.

Iulia Sineokaya is a Doctor of Philosophy, professor and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences. He is an expert in German philosophy, the history of European and Russian philosophy of the second half of the 19th-20th century.

After the start of Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine Sineokaia condemned the war and moved to Paris, where she is engaged in research at Panthéon-Sorbonne University.

In Paris, she was one of the founders of the Independent Institute of Philosophy, which includes many humanities researchers who left Russia because of their disagreements with Kremlin policy. In February Shineokaya was included in the list of “foreign agents”.
