The Independent Flight Attendants Organization (UFO) is calling Lufthansa cabin crews to strike on Tuesday for flights from Munich Airport and on Wednesday for departures from Frankfurt.

According to UFO, which represents 19,000 workers at Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cityline, the strikes will each start at 04:00 in the morning and end at 23:00 on the same day.

In a statement, UFO points out that just on Thursday Lufthansa announced a profit of almost 1.7 billion euros and “cabin crews must have a share in this success and be compensated for the concessions they made during the pandemic.”

For Lufthansa’s part, it has been announced that the strikes will affect around 100,000 travelers and the head of the Personnel Department, Michael Nigemann, expressed his disappointment that the dispute over collective agreements is being carried on the backs of passengers. “We remain ready for dialogue and ask UFO to sit with us again at the negotiating table,” he added.

The union is demanding 15% increases in monthly wages, an 18-month collective agreement and “inflation compensation” of €3,000.
