Israeli drone hit against a car, which was outside the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, claimed the life of a member of Hamas today from the nearby Palestinian camp of Rashidiya, a source in the Palestinian Islamist movement told Reuters.

She named the dead man as Hadi Mustafa, but noted that he was not a high-ranking member of the movement.

For their part, the Israeli armed forces announced a while ago that they killed Hadi Ali Mustafa, whom they described as an “important” member of Hamas.

Two sources in the Lebanese security forces said a Syrian man, who was passing by on his motorcycle, was also killed in the raid, while they had earlier said the two occupants of Mustafa’s car were killed in the strike.

The two Lebanese sources and the Hamas source noted that the drone, which they said was Israeli, was flying over the site of the strike for several minutes after it took place.

Hamas, whose militants launched a deadly attack by invading southern Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7, also has a political and military presence in Lebanon, mostly in camps where Palestinian refugees have lived for decades.

Lebanon’s Shiite movement Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel since October in support of Hamas. Since then Israel has been carrying out strikes in Lebanon, which are mostly confined to the border area, but are increasingly spreading north and east.
