Another incident … sofagate against the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, took place yesterday in Brussels, in the presence again of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, but also of the French President, Emanuel Macron.
After the 6th EU-Africa Summit, Ugandan Foreign Minister Jeje Odongo went to a special spot to greet the EU leadership and take pictures with them. However, the African ignored the President of the Commission, immediately turned to Charles Michel who was next to her and greeted him, without him protesting or reacting. Afterwards, Foreign Minister Jeje Odongo greeted the French President Emanuel Macron, who was standing next to Von Der Leyen, watching the incident in surprise.
However, the situation was saved by Macron, who when the Ugandan Foreign Minister took his place to be photographed, next to the President of the Commission, Macron persistently instructed him to greet Von der Layen. The African politician then turned his head, bowed somewhat embarrassed, spoke to her for a moment, without shaking his hand again, and walked away to leave his seat to the Ethiopian Prime Minister who was coming to greet him.
Oh no, it’s #sofagate all over again. Good thing that this time Emmanuel Macron was there to save the day :) pic.twitter.com/kvqdIDLOcc

The video from the new sofagate went viral on social media immediately with many social media users criticizing his behavior “It is offensive to everyone. “There should be a diplomatic protest in these cases,” someone wrote. “It was unacceptable,” others commented. “It is a huge insult from an obviously half-breed middle-aged man,” some wrote.
