THE Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to answer questions he was asked during a press conference about whether Friday’s terrorist attack in Moscow was a failure of Russian intelligence services.

Specifically, Peskov was asked if the attack was “a failure of the intelligence services.”

Then Peskov answered: “There is currently a lot of emotional, hysterical, provocative content online. Clearly, this monstrous tragedy evokes many emotions, but unfortunately, the world shows us that no city or country can be completely immune to the threat of terrorism.”

“Intelligence services work tirelessly. They face all the threats, all the challenges that our country faces”he said.

Peskov also said that the fight against terrorism requires “full international cooperation”. He declined to comment on whether warnings had been received from the United States on the risk of terrorist attacks in Russia.

“Information is never provided to the Kremlin. They are provided through channels from one intelligence agency to another intelligence agency. This is classified as sensitive information that is not disclosed.” Peskov said.

Answering a questionor if aid was given by western countries in view of the warnings, Peskov said: “The [ειδικές] our services operate independently. There is no talk of help now,” adding “there is currently no contact with Westerners.”
