Russia has been shelling Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for weeks, mainly in its northeastern part around Kharkiv, but also in other regions, causing extended power outages.
These new overnight strikes come less than three days after President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that his country “will lose the war” if US military aid, which has been blocked in Congress for months, does not arrive.
Because of this blockade of US aid and difficulties in military production in Europe, the Ukrainian armed forces are facing a shortage of ammunition, which adds to the physical and mental fatigue of its soldiers at the front.
For its part, the Russian military announced that it destroyed five Ukrainian drones over the border Russian region of Bryansk overnight.
