Nicaragua accuses Germany in its appeal to the UN’s top judicial body of complicity in the genocide of Palestinians it says is being committed by Israel, because Berlin supplies the Israeli army with weapons and ammunition.
Nicaragua is closing its embassy in the German capital, following Managua’s appeal to the International Court of Justice in The Hague against Berlin for complicity in genocide in the Gaza Strip, where Israel’s war against Hamas continues.
Nicaragua’s diplomatic mission in Austria will soon take over the handling of its affairs in Germany, an employee of the Nicaraguan embassy in Vienna confirmed to the German Agency. Consular services will also be provided by the Vienna embassy.
The government of President Daniel Ortega has announced that Nicaragua’s ambassador to Vienna, Savra Murillo, will simultaneously take over as ambassador to Germany, with a publication in the official Government Gazette.
According to data from the German Foreign Ministry, several hundred Nicaraguans live in the country and about a thousand Germans live in the territory of the Central American state.
