The Ukrainian military said debris from a drone caused the fire at the facility
Overnight Russian drone strikes in Ukraine’s southern regions caused a fire at an energy facility in the Dnipropetrovsk region on Friday, the Ukrainian military said via the Telegram messaging app.
The military said debris from a drone caused the fire at the facility, with emergency services still working on the scene. No casualties were reported by the army.
Yesterday, Vladimir Putin claimed that Russia was forced to launch attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in retaliation for similar attacks by Kiev.
“Unfortunately, we recently received a barrage of attacks on our energy infrastructure and we were obliged to respond,” Putin reportedly told Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during their meeting in Moscow, according to Russian news agencies.
Putin also claimed that these attacks were launched as part of the campaign to “demilitarize” Ukraine, as they indirectly affected the Ukrainian military industry.
