Prince William and their eldest son, Prince George, made their first public outing after Kate Middleton announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Father and son watched the Aston Villa football match together.

Prince William appeared smiling and in good spirits clapping in the stands at Villa Park in Birmingham, while 10-year-old George sported a Villa-branded scarf.

The pair celebrated the team’s 2-1 win over Lille in the Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg.

At one point William appeared to turn to his son to say something as he applauded Ollie Watkins’ goal.

This is the first time the family has appeared in public since March 22, when the Princess of Wales revealed she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after doctors found cancer during a scheduled abdominal operation.
