Tensions flared in Turin today as students demonstrating in support of the Palestinians entered the Castelo del Valentino, where a conference on cooperation in space research was underway.
Earlier, the Italian ministers of Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Agriculture and Environment had taken part in the conference.
“Take a stand against the genocide of the Kurdish and Palestinian people,” shouted a young woman who managed to enter the conference room.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her “solidarity with the police forces” online in the wake of this “unacceptable attack”.
Earlier, around 50 students who had tried to reach the Castelo del Valentino clashed with police, who had blocked off the surrounding streets. Two students and four police officers were injured during the clashes. The Italian police proceeded to verify the details of about 30 young people.
