In statements a few hours ago to accredited journalists, the representative of the National Security of the White House, John Kirby, said that there is no specific visit by Erdogan in the program of the American president.

In particular, when asked if Erdogan’s meeting with Haniyeh will be an issue in the meeting with Biden or if it will jeopardize the visit of the Turkish president, Kirby replied: “There is nothing on the schedule to talk about a specific visit of the President Erdogan. So, I have no comment on that.”

Asked about “who hosts the leader of Hamas,” Kirby said: “Again, I’ll let President Erdogan speak in the meetings he has. We have been very clear about our position on Hamas and who they are and what they stand for. I’ll leave it at that.”

However, the American agency Bloomeberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, reports that the meeting at the White House on May 9 will take place.

The American agency notes that the meeting will take place while the Israel-Hamas war continues and while Israel and Iran have launched attacks on each other, spreading fears that the conflict in the Middle East is taking on wider dimensions.
