The acting prime minister Milos Vucevic announced the composition of the new government and asked the president of the Parliament Ana Brnabitz holding a meeting where he will present his program and ask for a vote of confidence. The new government will have four vice presidents and thirty ministries. Finance Minister Sinisha Mali remains in his position while the Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic moves to the Ministry of the Interior (s.s. Police).

The portfolio of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is assumed by the former ambassador of Serbia to the USA, Marko Djuric. The fact that two ministers who are under sanctions by the USA due to their close relations with Moscow are returning to the government created an impression. This is the anti-European, pro-Russian politician Alexander Vulin who was appointed deputy prime minister and for Nenad Popovic who takes over as minister without portfolio.

Serbia’s new government takes office after December’s elections, in which the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) won an absolute majority in the national assembly.

The Parliament meeting to elect the new government will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 1.
