Palestinian students today they interrupted the meeting of its diplomats The European Union in the West Bank and stoned their cars, smashing the rear window of one of them, in a demonstration to protest the war in Gaza.

European diplomats in the occupied Palestinian territories were meeting at the Palestinian Museum in Birzeit, near Ramallah, when the incidents occurred, witnesses said. A diplomat who was present told Reuters that a crowd appeared outside the building and those gathered told them to leave. After attempts at dialogue proved fruitless, the diplomats withdrew. The experience was “unpleasant” but there was no serious threat to any diplomat, he added.

Footage posted on social media shows a crowd gathered around a car and smashing the windshield with stones.

Amr Kagend, a student at Birzeit University, said they forced the European diplomats to leave to send a message that “anyone who is complicit in the genocide and attack on Gaza” is not welcome.

Oliver Ovcha, Germany’s representative in the Palestinian Territories, expressed regret at the meeting’s interruption. “However, we remain committed to working constructively with our Palestinian partners. Peaceful protests and dialogue always have their place,” he said in a post on the X platform.

Earlier, Palestinian students had called via Facebook to protest against the presence of the German representative, citing the military support that his country provides to Israel.
