The Israeli military released drone video on Wednesday showing them gunmen stand next to vehicles with UN identification badges at a UN compound in the town of Rafahin the southern Gaza Strip, and asked the United Nations to investigate.

A statement from the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) said that on Saturday troops identified militants in a central logistics complex of the United Nations refugee agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) east of Rafah, where the Israeli army has been operating for more than a week.

A UNRWA spokesman said the agency is reviewing the images and will release information as soon as it becomes available.

Reuters identified the area shown in the video by comparing nearby buildings, poles, railings and tanks on a roof with satellite and archive images, but he was unable to ascertain the date of the video recording, nor the identity of the gunmen.

UNRWA has been a heavy target criticism from Israel, which accuses the agency of collaborating with the Islamist group Hamas in Gaza and calls for its disbandment. The agency categorically denies these accusations.

Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the military had forwarded the video to “high-ranking members of the international community” and called on the United Nations to investigate the link between UNRWA’s logistics centers and what he described as “Hamas agents” near their vehicles.

Israeli criticism of UNRWA has intensified at a time of escalating international pressure on Israel to increase supplies to Gaza to address the humanitarian crisis that threatens to starve hundreds of thousands of people displaced by the war.

Israel says it is ready to allow unlimited humanitarian supplies into Gaza and accuses UN aid agencies and other international organizations of they don’t distribute aid properly.

UN aid agencies say aid distribution to Gaza has been severely curtailed by the fighting and have accused Israel of restricting access to the enclave despite warnings of famine.
