The “leaders” of the breakaway regions are asking for Putin’s help

The letters from the two separatist leaders, according to Kiev, state that “due to the escalation of the situation and the threats from Kiev, the citizens of the Republics are now forced to leave their homes”, while “under conditions of prolonged military attack by “Ukraine’s armed forces are destroying industrial and urban infrastructure, schools, hospitals, kindergartens, and the worst is the civilian casualties, including children.”

“The actions of the Kiev regime testify to his unwillingness to end the war in Donbas,” the letter reads, read out by a spokesman for the Russian president.

So far, the Russian presidency has not clarified whether, when and how the Russian military assistance will be provided to the applicants.

Earlier, Donetsk leader Denis Pushilin called on Kiev to voluntarily withdraw its forces from the dividing line and leave the territory of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic”.
