More than 2,000 people marched in central Berlin on Saturday to mark Nakba Day, the displacement of 700,000 Palestinians following the establishment of the state of Israel following the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.

According to the Berlin police, who guarded the march with at least 500 of their own, a vehicle with a loudspeaker was leading the march, shouting slogans – among others, against Israel. After the intervention of the police, the vehicle was moved away, without, however, obstructing the course, which was changed several times for safety reasons.

Police had warned that incitement to violence, propaganda to destroy the state of Israel and the use of flags and symbols of Hamas and the Samidoun network, organizations outlawed in Germany, were prohibited, the second since the October 7 attack.
