“I see that at this time the Iranian authorities consider it an accident and are not inclined towards a conspiratorial reading of the incident. At this stage I do not see major changes in Iran’s internal structure,” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said, referring to the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

“I hope that the future political leadership of Iran will want to contribute to stabilization and peace in the region. We are constantly in contact with our European allies and the G7 Group (s.b.: the Group of Seven most developed industrialized states), because this is an event that is part of a complex regional situation. I will shortly meet the relevant ministers of my government and the heads of the security services for an overall assessment of the situation. And in the meantime I am in contact with my counterparts”, concluded the Italian Prime Minister.
