The United States wants the establishment of a Palestinian state, but through bilateral Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, the White House national security adviser reiterated on Wednesday afternoon Jake Sullivan.

“President Biden believes that direct negotiations between the two sides is the best path to (the establishment of) a Palestinian state,” he said.

“Each country has the right to make its own decisions for the recognition of Palestine” he noted anyway.

“The president believes that the two-state solution is the best way for long-term stability,” Jake Sullivan said.

He said he was briefed on Israel’s plans to “minimize” harm among the civilian population in Rafah during his weekend visit to the area.

“The US sees targeted, limited Israeli operations in Gaza,” the US official said. “The US will monitor Israel’s operation in Gaza,” he added.

The American official also pointed out Washington’s disagreement with the Israeli withholding of funds that destined for the West Bank.

earlier today Ireland, Norway and Spain they announced a plan to recognize a Palestinian state from May 28.

Ireland will recognize the Palestinian state, Prime Minister Simon Harris has announced, adding that he expects other countries to follow Ireland, Spain and Norway in the coming weeks.

“Today Ireland, Norway and Spain announce that they recognize the state of Palestine,” Harris said during a press conference, calling it “a historic day, important for Ireland and Palestine.”

The coordinated initiative Ireland, Spain and Norway to recognize a Palestinian state is tantamount to “rewarding terrorism”, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu argued today, condemning the decision.
