Israel came under rocket attack on Sunday for the first time in four months, with Hamas claiming responsibility.

Eight rockets were launched from southern Gaza, aiming at Tel Aviv, with some of them being intercepted.

Hamas’s armed wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, said it had launched a “major rocket attack” today in Tel Aviv, where the Israeli military has sounded the alarm.

Egyptian officials, however, say that ceasefire negotiations will resume on Tuesday in Cairo.

In a statement on their Telegram channel today, the Brigades announced that the rockets were fired in response to what they called “Zionist massacres of civilians”.

This attack signals that the Islamist organization is still it has the ability to launch long-range rockets despite the Israeli military operation that has been raging for over seven months from the air and on the ground with devastating results.
