A three-story building collapsed this morning suddenly in Constantinoplein the Küçükçekmece area, when it was full of people.

On the ground floor of the building – built in 1988 – a business operated, on the first floor there were offices, while on the upper floors families lived.

According to information from Turkish media, one person was pulled out dead from under the debris while rescuers are working to free one more person.

A little while earlier, the rescue crews heard the voices of both trapped people

Earlier, 7 injured people were freed – two of them seriously.

A statement was issued by the prefecture of Istanbul, according to which the apartment building collapsed at 08.40 (local time), while “a large number of AFAD rescue crews, search and first aid teams were dispatched to the scene”.

The rescuers still operating at the scene.

According to Turkish media, the reason for the collapse remains unknown.
