A single-engine plane crashed yesterday Friday during an emergency landing attempted by the pilot on a road in the city of Arvanda, Colorado, injuring all four on board.

The Beechcraft 35 aircraft crashed around 9:30 a.m. (local time) in the garden of a home in Arvanda, a city located 14 kilometers from Denver – the capital of this US state –, the fire service announced.

In a photo released by the local police department, firefighters are seen pouring water on the wreckage of the aircraft.

The four passengers, two of whom are minors, were injured and taken to a local hospital.

About fifteen minutes after takeoff from Centennial Airport, the pilot informed the control tower that he was experiencing engine trouble and was required to attempt an emergency landing.

“I’m losing power fast. I might have to put it down somewhere near Standley,” the pilot reported. The air traffic controller asks to let him know if he can help him with anything. The pilot sounds worried saying, “Ah, I don’t know what to do. I’ll have to land it in a field somewhere.’

A woman who had gone out to water her flowers saw the aircraft suddenly lose altitude. She told CBS that she saw the plane hit a tree and then fall into the street, landing outside her neighbor’s house.

Other eyewitnesses told KDVR television that several bystanders rushed to extricate those on board.
