The Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health announced Saturday that a teenager was killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank, while a source in the Israeli army confirmed that its members opened fire during an “anti-terrorist” operation.

Abdul Rahman Sultan Khatatba, 16, was killed by Israeli forces in the Beit Furiq community in the northern West Bank near Nablus, the ministry said on Facebook.

According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, two other people were injured during the raid — a 45-year-old and another 16-year-old — and taken to hospital.

Israeli forces stormed the town and fired “live bullets at residents,” the agency reported, citing eyewitnesses.

Asked about this by AFP, a source in the Israeli army said that, during an “anti-terrorist” operation in the Nablus sector, “dozens of suspects threw stones in the direction of the security forces”, who responded by using “riot control measures”. and opening fire “with real bullets”.

In the West Bank, an escalation of violence was already recorded in the last two years, which worsened even more after October 7, when the war broke out in the Gaza Strip.

Since then, at least 546 Palestinians have been killed in the area, occupied by Israel since 1967, in Israeli military operations or attacks by Jewish settlers, according to Palestinian Authority figures. On the other hand, at least 14 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks, according to official figures.
