The USA reacted yesterday, Tuesday, to the statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called “unthinkable” the fact that Joe Biden’s administration may delay the supply of weapons to Israel for its war on the Gaza Strip.

“We really don’t know what he’s talking about,” White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre replied to Netanyahu.

With the exception of “a particular load of ammunition”“there are no more pauses (…) all the rest they are moving based on the correct procedure,” the American official emphasized.

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had indicated earlier yesterday that the US “continues to consider” delivering some bombs to Israel, which had been suspended over concerns they might be used in Rafah, but was making sure “Israel has what it needs to defend itself ».

“We are continuing the examination of sending 2,000 pounds (907 kg) of bombs because of our concerns about their use in a densely populated area like Rafah. However, everything else is proceeding normally (…) with the aim of ensuring that Israel has what it needs to defend itself against the many challenges (it faces),” Blinken stressed during a press conference.

In a video posted on X yesterday, Netanyahu, speaking in English, described as “unthinkable” the fact that in recent months Washington has been “withholding weapons and ammunition from Israel”.

“Israel, America’s closest ally, which is fighting for its existencefighting against Iran and our other common enemies,” he added.

At the same time, the Israeli prime minister stated that during his recent visit to Israel, the American minister assured him that “the American government is working day and night to remove the obstacles”. “I really hope this is actually happening. This should be the case,” he emphasized.

“How is it possible that the weapons and ammunition we have bought with our money are delayed in arriving from the US?” Netanyahu asked.

“During World War II (British Prime Minister Winston) Churchill told the US ‘give us the tools and we will do the job,'” noted the Israeli prime minister. “And now I say give us the tools and we’ll get the job done much faster.”
