The US armed forces announced that on Wednesday they destroyed a “ground control station” (including drones), a “command and control hub” in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, as well as two unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in the Red Sea .

The systems were deemed to “pose an immediate threat,” the US Joint Chiefs of Staff for the Middle East (CENTCOM, “Central Command”) said via X.

The Iran-allied Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have since November launched attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, areas of strategic importance to global trade, saying they were acting in “solidarity” with the Palestinians in The Gaza Strip, an enclave under siege by Israel, has been at war with Hamas since October 7. Their at least 70 attacks have sunk two ships and killed three sailors. A third boat has been captured by their fighters.
