by

Russian troops are approaching the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia and are targeting the site with rockets, Vadim Denishenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Minister, said on Saturday.

Russia has already occupied the damaged Chernobyl station about 100 kilometers north of Kiev.

The Russian commanders are upset and frustrated more and more of the slow pace of their advance into Ukraine as they begin to face logistics issues, a senior Pentagon official said.

“Moscow does not appear to have supplied its troops with sufficient fuel, and as a result the commanders were forced to adjust their plans,” the official told Reuters.

The Russian military received orders earlier on Saturday to expand its offensive in all directions. despite the growing international outcryas the Russian side claims that Kiev refused the negotiations.

“Today all units have been ordered to extend the attack in all directions, in accordance with the plan of attack,” Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.

He said pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, backed by the Russian military, were “succeeding”. These allegations cannot be directly verified by an independent source.
