Israeli military forces tied an injured Palestinian to the hood of a military jeep and drove him around during a raid today in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.

One video released on social media and verified by Reuters shows a Palestinian resident of Jenin, Mujahid Azmi, strapped to the hood of the jeep as the latter drives past two ambulances.

The Israeli military said in a statement that Israeli forces exchanged fire, injuring a suspect and arresting him.

Soldiers then violated military protocol, the statement said. “The suspect was arrested by the forces who tied him to a car,” the announcement continues.

The army stressed that the “behaviour of the soldiers in the videos of the incident is not in line with the values” of the Israeli army and that the incident will be investigated and measures taken.

The person was taken to medics for treatment, the military said.

Reuters was able to pinpoint the location of the incident with confirmed and verified footage shared on social media showing a car carrying a bound person in a vehicle in Jenin.

The date of the video was confirmed by an eyewitness who spoke to Reuters.

According to Azmi’s family, there was an arrest raid and he was injured during the raid, and when the family called for an ambulance, the army took Mujahid, tied him to the hood and left.

Violence in the West Bank, already on the rise before the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, has since escalated with frequent army raids on militant groups, violence by Jewish militants in Palestinian villages and deadly street attacks by Palestinians.
