Britain’s maritime safety body UKMTO announced today that the master of a merchant ship reported an explosion near the vessel, which is sailing 246 nautical miles south-east of Nistoun in Yemen.

The UKMTO added that its crew was reported safe and that the ship was continuing on its way to the next scheduled port on its itinerary.

It is recalled that earlier today the headquarters of the American armed forces responsible for the Middle East region (US Central Command or CENTCOM) confirmed the strike on the Greek-owned merchant ship Transworld Navigator, which was announced yesterday Sunday by Yahya Sharia, the representative of the Houthi rebels of Yemen.

In the CENTCOM update it is stated that the Greek-owned M/V Transworld Navigator under the flag of Liberia was hit around 4 am on Sunday by a Houthi drone, the crew reported “minor injuries and limited damage”, but continued its journey. It is also underlined that it was the fourth time that this particular ship was attacked by the Houthis.
