“We are ready,” said Bardella who aspires to be the next French prime minister – “Fire” against Russia
“We are ready” to govern, assured today the leader of France’s far-right National Alarm (RN) party, Jordan Bardelladuring a presentation of his program for the parliamentary elections in Paris.
“The National Alarm is today the only movement that can immediately and realistically implement the expectations that the French have clearly expressed. In two words ‘We are ready’ “said Bardella, who aspires to become prime minister if he gets an absolute majority in the June 30 and July 7 elections.
As he said, his party will try hard to secure a reduction in the French contribution to the EU budget if it wins the election.
“Germany recently secured a negotiated discount,” he said during the press conference, adding that he would like something similar for France.
Bardella called Russia a threat for Europe’s security and said he would be “extremely wary” of Moscow’s meddling in France’s internal affairs and that, if elected, he would maintain France’s support for Ukraine but not send French troops or long-range missiles.
“While I am in favor of continuing logistical and defense support for Ukraine, the red line remains in terms of sending in particular long-range missiles or military equipment that could have the consequences of an escalation, i.e. equipment that could directly hit the Russian cities, because I believe that this would first of all create the conditions for France’s involvement in the war and the conditions for an escalation against a power that is a nuclear power,” he said.
Bardella also assured that he would be “vigilant” against “attempts to interfere by Russia”. “I think so Russia is a multidimensional threat to both France and Europe,” he said.
He expressed regret that “Russia is questioning French interests” in “zones of historical influence in Africa”, the Black Sea or even the Overseas Territories.
“I will be extremely careful against attempts to intervene by Russia, but also by all states and all powers in the world,” he promised.
As for the situation in the Middle East, Bardella has currently opposed the recognition of a Palestinian state, believing that to do so would “recognise terrorism” after the deadly attacks by Hamas on Israel on October 7, which caused the Israel’s military response.
“I’m not saying this shouldn’t remain on the horizon, but to recognize a Palestinian state at this time would be to recognize terrorism. This would give political legitimacy to an organization whose constitution provides for the destruction of the state of Israel,” he added, referring to Hamas.
The election campaign in France entered its final week today.
