Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic announced that the perpetrator of the bow attack against the Israeli embassy police guard is a young Serb who converted to Islam.

“This is Milos Zujovic, twenty-five years old, convert from the town of Mladenovac, bears the religious name Salahudin and recently moved to live in the town of Novi Pazar,” reported Ivica Dacic. It is noted that in Novi Pazar and in general in the region of Sandzak, the majority of the population is Muslim.

The anti-terrorist service is conducting investigations in the city of origin of the attacker, as well as in his place of residence to determine whether more people are involved in the terrorist attack, as described by the Serbian authorities.

The attack took place this morning when the assailant fired an arrow at the police officer who was in front of the Israeli embassy in Belgrade and wounded him in the neck. The policeman managed to react, shot and killed the attacker. The officer underwent surgery to remove the arrow from his neck and is in intensive care.

At the time of the attack, none of the embassy’s diplomatic staff was inside the building. Israel’s Foreign Ministry wished the wounded Serbian policeman a speedy recovery.
