Britain’s Sunday Times newspaper announced today that it is backing the Labor Party in the July 4 general election, arguing in its editorial that the country needs a “radical reboot” after 14 years of Conservative rule.
“We cannot continue as we are and we believe now is the right time to entrust the Labor Party with the task of restoring adequacy to governance,” the paper’s main article reads. “There comes a time when change is the only option.”

The paper is owned by Rupert Murdoch and has traditionally supported the Conservative Party in all election contests since 2005.
The article accuses both Labor and the Conservatives of “avoiding meaningful debate” and not being honest about the state of the public finances throughout this election campaign.
Although Sunak and Jeremy Hunt are praised for restoring stability after Liz Truss became prime minister, it is noted that “in the end they could neither repair the damage done to the Tories nor unite their recalcitrant colleagues”.
“Britain now needs a radical reset,” he says. “Britain needs to do better – as a place to live, work and do business. The challenge is huge. The exhausted Conservatives cannot. There comes a time when change is the only option.”
According to the BBC, Murdoch’s best-selling newspaper, the Sun, has yet to announce its support, although in previous elections the paper has often backed the winning party.
Other newspapers that have so far supported Labor are Daily MirrorThe Guardian and Independentwhile Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph have supported the Conservatives.
