Second comes the New People’s Front of the left with a percentage of 29-30%
The first exit polls give the National Rally a lead of 33-34%, the second place is occupied by the New People’s Front of the left with a percentage of 29-30%, while in third place and with a percentage of 22-23% comes the Macron Ensemble alliance , according to the Belgian media La Libre.
Voters went to the polls to elect their 577 representatives to the National Assembly, in an electoral process that is the most critical for the country’s future as its international standing is at stake.
A new majority of MPs opposed to Macron is expected to fundamentally change France’s domestic and foreign policy.
A far-right government could put France on a collision course with the European Union. While the National Coalition no longer supports leaving the bloc, many of its proposals would conflict with European treaties or hinder cooperation with Germany, the EU’s largest economy.
The latest polls predict that the National Rally will garner around 36% of the vote in the first round, the left-wing New People’s Front around 28% and Macron’s alliance expected to reach around 21%.
