The volcano erupts almost continuously but in the last few days – Lava and rocks have reached the sea, a large “ash cloud” has been created
The intensity of the volcanic eruption on the small Italian island of Stromboli, near Sicily, is increasing, which worries the Italian Civil Protection.
The volcano erupts almost continuously, but in the last few days the phenomenon has clearly intensified. Yesterday, the lava reached the sea, while from a mouth created at a height of seven hundred meters, the ejection of incandescent rocks continues.

At the same time, a large “ash cloud” has been created.

The Italian Civil Protection is in a “precautionary alert” phase, although so far the homes of the few residents are not threatened.
In a statement, Civil Protection asked residents and tourists to be constantly informed about the development of the situation, by contacting its representatives on the island.

The island of Stromboli does not exceed 12 square kilometers in area and its permanent inhabitants, in winter, are only 497.
Etna also “woke up”.
According to the Italian media, a few hours after the last major eruption of Stromboli yesterday, the Etna volcano on the eastern coast of Sicily, the largest and highest active volcano in Europe, also showed intense activity.
