Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico tonight made his first public appearance since his assassination attempt in May.

Fico, who is recovering after being shot four times at close range in mid-May, spoke at an event on Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, a public holiday in Slovakia.

Fitzo, who returned to the prime ministership after winning last September’s election, was shot dead while greeting supporters in the city Handlova.

He had to undergo a lengthy surgery and has been recovering at home since the end of May.

The attacker, a 71-year-old man, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and terroristic attack.
