Biden discusses additional measures against Moscow with foreign leaders

US President Joe Biden and several foreign leaders discussed the possibility of taking new measures against Russia after its invasion of Ukraine in a teleconference conference on Monday.

According to the White House, measures were discussed that would have “serious implications” for Russia, as well as initiatives to maintain global economic stability, including those related to energy prices.

A NATO statement said the leaders reaffirmed their unity and commitment to working together to address the most serious threat to Euro-Atlantic security in decades. They stressed that the package of restrictive measures adopted as a result of Russia’s aggressive behavior was unprecedented. They reiterated their call on Russia to immediately end the war, withdraw all its forces from Ukraine and return to the table. They also agreed to work with Ukraine to determine their next steps.

The conference was attended by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trindade, French President Emanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Soltro Ntro Romanian President Klaus Johannes, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Cisida.
