The Kremlin said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not contacted Donald Trump following the assassination attempt on the US Republican presidential candidate and that he has no plans to do so.

Asked whether security measures around Putin would now be stepped up, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Russian leader already had the appropriate level of protection. “Security has already been strengthened for obvious reasons, regardless of incidents,” Peskov told reporters.

“We can only reiterate that the security of the head of state is provided at the appropriate level, whatever is necessary is done taking into account the international escalation of tensions in general.”

The Kremlin said yesterday, Sunday, that it does not believe the US government is responsible for the assassination attempt on Trump on Saturday. however, he accused her of creating an environment that led to the attack. Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania after a major security breach. The assailant was shot and killed, and law enforcement officials said they have not yet identified a motive.

Putin has yet to publicly comment on the matter.

Peskov’s comments echo those of some of Trump’s Republican allies, who have been quick to blame Biden.

“After numerous attempts to remove candidate Trump from the political arena – first using legal tools, the courts, prosecutors, attempts to politically discredit and drag out the candidate – it was obvious to all outside observers that his life was in dangerPeskov said on Sunday.
