Moscow appears to be keen to demonstrate that the former US president and Vladimir Putin are anything but aligned, and that Trump’s election is anything but in Russia’s interest, despite reports in the Western media
Moscow seems to be trying to create a “climate” in favor of Donald Trump, wanting to demonstrate to the American public opinion that the former US president and Vladimir Putin are anything but aligned, and that Trump’s election is anything but beneficial to Russia, rather than the Democratic and Western media reports.
“US presidential candidate Donald Trump he refused to answer a question from TASS about his readiness to start negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in case he wins the November 5 presidential election,” the Russian news agency reports.
“After the end of the first day of the Republican National Convention, where Trump arrived late at night with his ear bandaged, the former president greeted supporters, shaking hands with several of them.”
It was preceded by a Kremlin statement on Tuesday that the Russian president has not contacted Trump since the assassination attempt on the US Republican presidential candidate and has no plans to do so.
Moscow said on Sunday it did not believe the US government was responsible for Saturday’s assassination attempt on the former president, but accused it of creating an environment that led to the attack.
Additionally, Russia’s Vladimir Putin said on June 4 that he had seen clips of the teleconference between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, but that the “his preference for Biden as the next US president remains unchanged».
Asked by a state television reporter whether Biden or Trump was better, whether his publicly stated preference for Biden had changed after the debate and whether he had seen it, Putin said: “Nothing has changed.”
Putin has said several times that he feels Biden is preferable to Trump as the next US president, even after Biden called the Kremlin chief a “crazy old . . .”
Asked about Trump’s claims that he could end the Ukraine war as soon as he wins the presidential election, Putin said Russia was taking him seriously but had no sense of the details of any peace proposals from Trump.
“The fact that Mr. Trump, as a presidential candidate, is declaring that he is ready and wants to stop the war in Ukraine, we take that very seriously,” Putin said.
