The five women still held in Gaza were Israeli army observers
Photos of five Israeli women who served as Israeli army observers and were abducted from the Nahal Oz base by Hamas in the October 7 attack have been released by their families.
The five women still held hostage in Gaza are Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Agam Berger, Daniella Gilboa and Naama Levy.
According to Israeli media, the photos are snapshots taken from a video shown to the families by the IDF. In the video, a terrorist asked the hostages to state their name and the place they were abducted from.
The publication comes on the occasion of Benjamin Netanyahu’s planned trip to the US with the families first seeking an agreement. Alongside the publication of the photos, the families held a press conference, calling on Netanyahu not to fly to the US until an agreement was reached.
Karina’s father, Albert Ariev, said: “My little Karina, only 19 years old, is in Gaza. Today, you see footage of Karina and her friends in their first days of captivity. It’s so vivid – Karina is sitting on a mattress on the floor, with a look that betrays exhaustion and despair. She has a bandage on her head with dried blood.
Referring to the ceasefire and hostage exchange deal, Ariev said: “The deal currently on the table is the closest we’ve ever had. From the morning of October 7, Karina’s words are etched in my memory: “Dad, I’m afraid.” And I’m helpless. I can not do anything. My little daughter, wounded, has been in Gaza for over nine months. All we ask is for Karina to come back. We want our little family to be whole again.”
It is noted that seven Israeli army observers were kidnapped from the base. Ori Megidish was rescued by the IDF in October and Noa Marciano was killed in Gaza.
