THE North Korea sent balloons today who carried garbage to the South Koreaas the South Korean military announced, saying it would retaliate with “full-scale” propaganda broadcasts.
The South Korean military stated that Pyongyang’s actions raising tensions near the border could have fatal consequences, adding that the North Korean regime will be solely responsible.
“As we have warned many times, the military will carry out full-scale loudspeaker broadcasts on all fronts starting today at 1 p.m.” the general staff of Seoul’s armed forces said, calling Pyongyang’s move to send these balloons vulgar and shameful.
Since May, North Korea has sent thousands of balloons carrying bags full of trash across the border. Pyongyang claimed it was a retaliation campaign for the sending by South Korean activists of balloons carrying leaflets against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, USB sticks with music videos and TV series from South Korea, as well as US dollars.
