At least 11 children and youths were killed today when a rocket fired from Lebanon hit the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, according to the N12 News news network and a senior foreign ministry official in Israelin the worst episode of violence in months of violence between Israel and armed groups in Lebanon.
Israel’s military said the rocket that hit a soccer field in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, killing many, was fired by Hezbollah from across the border in Lebanon.

In the attack, 19 people were injured, six of them seriously, according to the latest report by the Israeli rescue services.
Israeli police and military confirmed that rockets hit several locations in the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights, one of which hit Majdal Shams. This city is located on the border of northern Israel and southern Lebanon and borders Syria.
“The terrorist organization Hezbollah is behind the rocket attack on a soccer field in Majdal Shams,” the military said in a statement.
The Magen David Adom first aid agency, Israel’s counterpart to the Red Cross, said earlier that nine people were killed in the attack.
For its part, Lebanon’s Islamist movement Hezbollah denied responsibility for the deadly attack in Majdal Shams, northern Israel.
In a statement, the pro-Iranian movement says it “categorically denies the allegations reported by some hostile media and various media platforms regarding the targeting of Majdal Shams” and “confirms that the Islamic Resistance has nothing to do with the events.”
The IDF is preparing to respond
The Israeli military is preparing a response against Hezbollah after a rocket fired from Lebanon killed 10 people, including children, at a soccer field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, its spokesman announced today, while it was reported late in the evening that at 4 pm local time, a war council will be held in Tel Aviv to decide the next moves.
“Our information is clear. Hezbollah is responsible for killing innocent children, teenagers,” Vice Admiral Daniel Haggari said, adding that Hezbollah is lying when it denies involvement in the incident.
“We will prepare to respond to Hezbollah, complete our assessment and take action,” the spokesman said.
The Israeli military called the Hezbollah strike earlier today, which killed 10 people, “the deadliest” against civilians since October 7.
