Russian shelling killed at least five civilians in regions of Ukraine on Saturday, officials said.

At Kherson (south) three people were killed, one in the capital of the same name, the second outside the city, the third in the community Berislavin its northern part.

Kherson was captured by the Russian military in the early days of its 2022 invasion, but Ukrainian troops retook large parts of it later that year. Since then Russian armed forces continue to frequently strike Ukrainian positions there.

At Sumi (northeast), 14-year-old killed and 12 others injured in rocket attack in small town Hlukhiv, according to the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office. Flats, houses, educational structure, shop and vehicles were affected yesterday afternoon. Six of the injured are children.

In the Kharkiv (also north-east), the military governor Oleh Sinekhubov reported that a man was killed when his house near the city was bombed Chuhuiv.

On the other side of the border, in the Russian region Belgorod (southwest), o Vychislav Gladkov announced that one person was killed, two were injured and houses were damaged in Ukrainian shelling.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Russia reported that another village was captured in eastern Ukraine, where the slow advance of Russian forces continues.

The one that was “liberated” was “the community of Lozuvatske”, east of the city Pokrovskwhere Russian territorial gains are being made at a comparatively faster rate than elsewhere in recent months.

Russia has been wresting territory, albeit at a slow pace, since the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive in the summer of 2023 and the fall of the fortress city of Avdiyivka in February.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian armed forces reported yesterday that they launched attacks against refineries and three Russian airports (in Saratov, Ryazan, Murmansk), while Russian military helicopters were “sabotaged”, one in Samara, and two in the Moscow region.
