Israel’s interior minister says the preacher committed felonies involving security and breach of trust
Israeli Interior Minister Moshe Arbel announced that intends to revoke a preacher’s residence permit for a memorial service he gave at al-Aqsa Mosque for the assassinated leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniya.
In a letter sent to Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, Arbel, in his arguments, emphasizes that the preacher, Sheikh Ekrima Said Sabri, committed crimes that they are about security and breach of trust.
“Ekrima has a permanent residence permit in Israel, which did not stop him from inciting against the countryencouraging anti-Semitism and committing serious crimes against security for years,” the interior minister stressed.
Israel’s entry law allows Arbel to revoke residence permits for acts of breach of trust, such as committing, inciting or aiding terrorist acts and other crimes against security, without a court conviction – and Arbel sought the support of legal counsel to the procedure.
Israeli police announced that they are investigating the sermon at the al-Aqsa mosque incrimination about Haniya.
Sheikh Ekrima Said Shabri, former Mufti of Jerusalem, led the prayer for Haniya.
